This took me quite a while to work on. I'm the model and everything was done by me.
There is supposed to be a story behind this piece that you might not understand just by looking at it. It is supposed to be about a girl who has always been different from everyone else. Quite possibly a girl who has always been "one of the guys." This girl begins to feel insecure about herself and how unique she is, so she tries being more like everyone else, or "prettier". She tries putting on lip gloss, which just isn't her, and clearly doesn't know what she's doing. You can see that she does an okay job at first, but it just doesn't seem to be perfect. So you can see in frame 14 that she tries fixing it, and keeps trying, but just ends up making it worse and worse. You can see the frustration in her mouth expressions in many of the frames. In frame 21, she finally gives up and starts trying to wipe it off, and in frame 27 she splashes water on it and is finally able to get it off completely. In the final frame, the girl is smiling, because she realizes that she is who she is, and is happy to be herself again.
Basically it just means what the title says; Embrace who you are and don't worry about being just like everyone else. It's not worth it.
Wow! This is beautiful...especially the meaning behind it. I bet that many can relate, including me. It reminds me of my morning escapades of trying to find the perfect lipgloss and wearing the only brand name expensive clothes that I had. Thank you for this gorgeous picture!
really great idea
